This kit is designed for the rapid and efficient isolation of highly pure genomic DNA using the latest developments in silica membrane spin column technology.

ISOLATE II Genomic DNA Kit uses the latest developments in silica-membrane spin column technology. The isolation process combines fast lysis of the starting material with Proteinase K, followed by specific binding of DNA directly to the membrane in a spin column. Subsequent washing steps result in elution of high-quality DNA.

The isolated DNA is suitable for downstream molecular biology applications such as multiplex PCR, Southern blotting, real-time PCR, sequencing, restriction analysis and microarrays.

I have used this kit to extract genomic DNA from mice tails (approx. 0.6 cm) for genotyping. Usually a sufficient amount of quality DNA (0.5 to 3 micrograms @ 5-30 ng/µl) from the mice tails was extracted through using this kit- to carry out genotyping. An input of 50 ng for each DNA sample was used for genotyping.
